a live look this morning at new york. things just picking up there. a nice sunrise over that skyline. thank you for staying with us here on this wednesday morning. i'm charley crowson. do you remember the back in june also irene from august of 2011? many of you were without power for a number of days, even weeks. that's a similar situation of what's going on for thousands of new yorkers affected by superstorm sandy. now a lawsuit has been filed against the long island power authority claiming gross negligence. >> how much longer can we take this? i mean, i don't understand how unprepared could lipa have been to see that we're here 16 days without power? >> you are hearing from laura brennan there, salt water rushed into her oceanside home, the water heater, boiler failed. she's among the 11.000 homeowners that need repairs before the power can be turned back on.

6:15 am
lingering for a while. futuretrend not picking up on a whole lot as we go through the next several days. you have to follow the timeline to actually see where you are so you don't get lost. plenty of sunshine will continue and even as we go into friday and also saturday. here's your planner for today. as we wake up that temperature still quite frosty outside. and as we go throughout the day, temperature coming in at 46 degrees and then we will start to rise only to 49. so that's the high temperature that i'm going with as we go into the afternoon. the seven-day forecast, yes, the temperatures go up a bit, but we're still looking at these temperatures below. so that's the theme, below average temperatures for the next several days, our next chance for some rain rolls in here on sunday. let's get a check now of the abc 2 news time saver traffic with lauren cook. good morning. >>reporter: good morning, lynette. it's definitely off to a cold start. you will want to crank that heat in the car, maybe turn on the seat warmers this morning. unfortunately we are dealing with repairs to two water main breaks in baltimore. the first in mount vernon, it burst yesterday and it continues to impact traffic on
